so i've had my trek 520 since the start of december, put about 4000kms on it and have had to have the wheels re-trued about 4 times (2 each). i'm no mechanic so don't trust myself to attack it with the spoke key but am thinking i might have to learn to save the hassle.
what i'm interested to know is whether thse truly are the "bombproof" wheels that i've heard from some folks or whether they're not actaully all that much chop as the wheel specialist at my lbs has said. could it be my riding style that sees this happening? i ride predominantly on sealed roads and bike paths and, though i'm up near 100kgs, try to ride pretty lightly.
i'm quite worried about loading the bike up fully if the wheels are already struggling with me just carrying up to about 15-20kgs (though i usually load it all into one rear pannier - could that be causing problems?). is there a similar wheel that might suit better or would i simply be best to head to my lbs and ask them to build something up there?
