Ok... not exactly a Bike bath, but a Multi-use path. This is the second time I've seen those signs blocking off the MUP.
I know... I'm not supposed to be biking, Doctors orders. But since I'm starting physio next Tuesday, I decided to go for a small "one handed" ride yesterday. I was taking it really easy. I just miss biking too much.
Anyway, so along the MUP I saw 2 RE/MAX "open house" signs side by side from the same sales guy blocking the path. It's those "A" frame type of signs made from plywood and 2 chains. I got pissed off that it was blocking the path so I got off the bike, folded the signs and put them up against the fence where they wouldn't be in the way.
If it happens a 3rd time, I'm gonna take the damn signs away from him. I did file a complaint at RE/MAX which has apparently fallen on deaf ears. Why am I not surprised?

If your community has ordinances against this, send a photo to your enforcement division.
In my city, there is an ordinance against leaving anything blocking a sidewalk or greenway, as well as another ordinance against placing such signs on public property.

Put the signs on another Realtor turf and watch the fun.

+1, I bet that is illegal. Calling the cops can help even if it is just a matter of an Officer warning him.
A few years ago, I found a whole bunch of realtor business cards spread out on our MUP. I sent her a tersely worded e-mail suggesting that purchasing trash cans and removal service with her name on them might be a better way to get new customers.
She called me very upset...with her son. Seems he grabbed a stack of cards with this great plan to help his mom advertise her business. I think she had a little counseling session with him about proper advertising.

I did take a photo but I left that SD card at home. Ah well.... maybe tomorrow.

Oh SNAP... that would be hilarious. Realtor wars! Fight fight! LOL!
throw it into the bushes. put a note on it about not blocking public rights of way.
Write 'Bu$h Sux !' or something really ultrA-koool like that on
them and put them in the street he he hehe he he he
Run into it and then sue the pants off the guy.

Folks...we have a winner!
As I ride by them, I give them a good kick so that they fold up and fall down.
Place it in a random yard in a subdivision. Let the home owner then call the guy about trying to sell their house.

So I take it I'm not the only one who's had these problems? When they're own some lawn or something, I have little issues with it except for maybe that they're advertising on city owned property.
But when they place the signs in such a way that it gets into the way of cyclists or pedestrians, I have real issues with that.
I may just end up having enough RE/MAX signs to build a nice bike shed in my backyard if this keeps up. I think I saw some kids building a treehouse the other day, I'm pretty sure two RE/MAX signs could help. I might just "donate" the signs.
I saw the signs again in the MUP today as I was driving to work. But being on a "no biking diet" (which sucks BTW), I was in my car and didn't bother. I may bother on my way back home tonight though since I know where they were this morning and because they're also on the side of the road I use to go home.
They make great target stands on a rifle range!:p So I take it I'm not the only one who's had these problems? When they're own some lawn or something, I have little issues with it except for maybe that they're advertising on city owned property.

Actually people typically have a lot of respect for the sidepaths here and don't block them. I have even gotten a few apologies as I ride by from folks who have parked on the sidepath inadvertently.

You must have people who actually think then. Here where I live I was always moving signs off the sidewalk when I was a pedestrian. Even now on the bike I will still stop and move the real estate signs out of the way if I see them on the sidewalk. I've told a few people off about it (if they get nasty), and politely pointed out to others how much it would distress them if they were in a wheelchair and could not get around that sign. That usually makes them stop and think.
