Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

One of my co-workers was asking about suspension seatposts, because he has had some back surgery but likes to ride singletrack. He's about 220 pounds and has done some Sport-class races, so he's likely to put a bit of stress on it sometimes.

I shared with him my lukewarm experiences with a couple of telescopic posts, the Rock Shox and the USE, and told him that I would pick a parallelogram-action model if I could afford to experiment again. He asked about the durability and suitability, so I said I'd post the question here.

Any/all comments, experiences, and second-hand information is welcomed :)

FWIW - I recently bought a Cane Creek Thudbuster. It seems to work great on the road for curbs, speed bumps, etc. The jury is still out regarding off road use. Not really sure if it's as effective considering that the terrain is more variable and you're not sitting the whole ride. Also, from the reviews I've read, some 200+lb riders have had trouble with it. Check out www.mtbreview.com for Thudbuster.
