Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Removing tubular glue

Did a pretty sloppy job on a tubie gluing yesterday (tires were EXTREMELY tight, even after a 48 hour pre-stretch) and I'm wondering what y'all have found works best for cleaning up excess glue on tire and rim.
WD40 on a rag was recommended, but seems almost ineffective. Vitorria pre-buff just seems to spread it around, and has the unpleasant side effect of getting me high as a kite.
Any suggestions?

Acetone and/or Laquer Thinner. Be-sure to wear gloves and work outside...

If time is on your side, you can use 3M Safest Stripper*.
It's has the consistency of yogurt & no fumes.

Better yet, use Tufo tape next time. It's too easy.

*I don't know if it's ok on carbon fiber.

you can also use VERY FINE sandpaper to remove really stubborn residue

The spit of a rabid vampire bat. Takes off all but the most stubborn glue. Kinda pricey, but the best always is.

If supply of the above is short, you can always rely on Goo Off or Opps. Add a bit of elbow grease and it should take no time.

i used acetone. but it requires lots and lots of elbow grease. and somewhere well ventilated. i've heard nail polish remover does the job well too.

the residue from tufo tape [atleast the extreme stuff] is even worse than normal glue.

but i still use it because i'm certain that i'm never going to roll a tyre with it, and it makes things oh so simple.

in answer to the original question: wire wool with acetone or aerosol carburetter cleaner.

[remember to use proper gloves though. acetone eats through washing up gloves]

FYI nail polish remover is acetone
nailpolish remover, if it does have acetone in it [not all of them do any more], doesn't tend to have it in high enough concentration to be useful.

just get a bottle of the pure stuff from the chemist.
