Hi, I just found this forum, it was recommended to me by someone on the Gear Page, my favorite Musicians forum. I'm new to riding, I started a month ago as recommended by my Doctor as part of a weight loss thing I'm doing. I shopped around for a Bike to fit someone my size, 6'3" 300 pounds and after trying out more then a few, I ended up with a Trek Hybrid.

The first night I went riding I barely made it one mile and felt like I was going to pass out. Out here it's all country roads with hills, so a mile is a work out. Well after a month, I'm up to 6 miles, a few night's a week and I put just over 50 miles on the bike now and I'm really enjoying riding.

I joined the forum to get advice on better riding and ways to work up to going further each week and just all around bike stuff.

Come join us in the Clydesdale forum section for some good avice from fellow larger guys when it comes to those things that the twiggy sized folks don't know much about.
You're not alone in being from Western Michigan as there are a few of them on here, even some Yoopers! I however am fighting the traffic in Metro Detroit.
Welcome to the board!

ooooooooo a second Redhouse.

When I signed up it didn't say the name was taken, I used it because it's my favorite Jimi Hendrix song.

Thanks for the welcome guys, I'll be checking out the Clydesdale section, I think it's very cool to see Bigger guy's talking about getting healthier and riding.

Hmmm, I wonder if that's why old Red House chose his name too?

Don't worry, they're just referring to the fact that you've chosen a similar moniker to a prolific and fairly deranged mind that is a much-loved piece of furniture here on BF.

Welcome, Redhouse!

Hello redhouse, I just hope you don't get confused with red house. It is possible to change your user name if you ask one of the administrators politely :p , just in case.

Just keep enjoying riding the bike, talk to the Clydes, and have fun!

Welcome to BF!

Hello and welcome!

I love your area of the state. Especially the Kal Haven trail, which I would highly reccomend looking into as you build on your milage. Its a beautiful trail.:) Being an old rail trail, it's nice and flat, and you can go for as long or short of a ride as you want with almost no worries from traffic. It's probably my favorite rail trail I've ever been on.

Thanks guy's!

Michigander, I know what you mean, Kal Haven trail is a great place to ride. I did 10 miles on it today, I live in Coloma, so i'm just down the road from the South Haven trail head.
