Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I saw a good condition 1965 DAWES Roadbike today for sale, new tires and tubes, refurbed brakes and mechanics, rust free, paint is original (brown and gold) in ok-good shape, original head badge in great condition...what kind of value would something like this bring

Probably as much as you ever hoped and imagined!

There is a vintage forum here (http://bikeforums.net/forumdisplay.php?f=181). Your question will probably get better answers there.

Im from Birmingham UK,
I worked in a bike shop last year which did a lot of restoring/selling old road bikes.
most were 70's-80's but some were as early as 1930's
most of the 70/80's ones were Dawes, 60s ones Raleigh, earlier ones Royal Enfield/Hercules.
We sold em for around £60 / $120 each
Although I am aware the same sort of bikes would fetch twice that in london where it is super trendy to ride a vintage road bike.
I guess Dawes might be worth more in the US too.
