Long Distance Competition/Ultracycling, Randonneuring and Endurance Cycling - would this saddle be suitable for long rides?

suitable as in comfortable. I don't know much about saddles, I mean it looks nice, but its only 25 dollars, so i'm skeptical.

Those of us with boxes full of saddles - well me anyway - say you gotta try 'em. You really can't tell much until the 3rd hour. Looks like it might work, but a lot depends on how soft it is. Too soft = won't work.

i should just go to some shops and see what they have there so i can at least see them in person before i buy one.

Like most of us on this forum, I have found the following facts about finding a good saddle.
1) Soft and cushy is great for short rides. For Long rides, say greater than ten miles, soft and cushy means extreme pain. Your sit bones will sink into a soft saddle and your soft tissue will support the weight. If you sit on a soft saddle too long, you will have trouble sitting for a week. (ON ANYTHING).
2) if your lucky you'll find a comfortable saddle on your third saddle.
3) the only person that can find you a confortable saddle is YOU!

With that said, you'll find that for most people the most comfortable saddles, for long rides have 1/8 if an inch of padding or less. It also has to fit YOUR sit bones. It will need to be the right width for you. My last saddle seemd pretty hard for the first 5 miles and then it was more comfortable. after using it for a while, I finally had increased my rides enough to try a 50 mile ride. That is when I found out that saddle was still too soft. My current saddle is a Specialized Alias (new model). It works great for me, but this still may be the wrong saddle for you.

Try looking into Specialized saddle, they have been working on developing more sensible saddles, look at their web site; very informative.
