Here's a recent article in the Sacramento Bee about the Devil Mountain Double, & California double centuries in general:

That's a good article. Someone on staff at the Bee is really into cycling. They had a big feature on the fixie/alleycat scene a few months back.

Maybe this article will help to convince my family that what I do on weekends is _normal_ and not a cry for psychological help...

Jobob,
That was great. Thanks so much for sharing that. I think the last guy's quote was very true ... it's not normal, and you really find out about yourself. But it's also the friendships you develop, from the select few that choose to push their body, and do this crazy event year after year.

speaking of crazy ...

Have a great Davis Double tomorrow, Ron ! And everyone else riding it.

Keep your eyes peeled on Rt 128 between Winters and Moskovite Corner for a motley crew in Amici Veloci jerseys (the same red w. green chainring design I was wearing at our Carvell rendezvous). Maybe you'll pass me huffin & puffin' over Cardiac. :D After Moscovite Corner we'll head down Rt. 121, away from the DD route.

I guess you weren't anywhere near us, after the fires. Anyways, this ride was definitely an experience, one that I won't forget anytime soon. I'm composing a ride report ... just don't know where to begin.
