View Full Version : Jamis Coda Comp or Coda Sport

I know I'm going to get a Coda, but I'm not sure which model. My local bikeshop will sell me a Coda Comp for $699, and $529 for the Sport - the only problem is they don't stock them so I can't try them out. Here's the links for the bikes if anyone feels like taking a look:

BTW - I plan on putting a childseat on the back for a while so I can get out with my toddler, if that makes a difference.

I rode both of those models(`05) before I decided on the Sport. The Comp`s specs were a little better and it weighed a little less, but not enough to justify the added cost for my intended uses. I didn`t notice that much difference between the two and actually preferred the ride of the Sport. Also, the higher spoke count rear wheel of the Sport might be an advantage when you pack your youngin` along for the ride.:) BTW, $529 is a good price for a Sport, too. Hope this helps, but I`m sure you`ll be satisfied no matter which one you choose. Have fun!

The comp is actually "sportier," ironically. neither are really "competition" level, whatever that means. I believe the Sport has eyelets for a front rack, so if you ever want to tour, or carry larger loads, this is a major bonus. The sport will be lighter, so probably just a little more fun for riding around unloaded. I don't know if the vibration dampening properties of the carbon fork on the comp or the steel of the sport will be better, but I can tell you from experience that Jamis makes some smooth riding steel frames.

Keep in mind that you can also always upgrade components if you are so inclined.
