I recently bought an old racing bike, which i aim to slowly make amazing.
Yesterday i was riding and the pedal fell off, its now threadbare and not going back on. i took it into Evans and they said my whole crank set etc is very old and the whole thing needs to be replaced.
So here are my questions:
1, Do crank sets come complete with bottom brackets, all websites are pretty non-specific about this.
2, Are bottom brackets a standard size, and if not which part am i measuring here?
3, If i change my crankset do i have to change my cassette etc?
4, My gears are old school ones situated half way up the frame of the bike, is this going to be a problem in any way?
5, Is fitting a crank set a job a novice like me could do, as i am really keen to get in to this alot more.
This is it for now i think, my terminology is probably all wrong, but i have tried . . . .
Would really appreciate any help, especially if it relates to parts on the evans website!
