Fifty Plus (50+) - Arte Johnson rides his trike on Laugh-In

My after work attitude adjustment ride today found me 10 miles out when I needed to raise the seat a hair. Over the years the allen on my multitool got too rounded to tighten the seat clamp, so I'm left riding home with a seat tube fully depressed into the frame.
Ever see a 50 + riding a bicycle with his knees up to his ears? Looks pretty Freddish. :o
Reminded me of old Arte on Laugh In.
Oh well.. There's tomorrow.

My seatpost came loose once when I was miles from home. I asked everyone I came across if they had any metric hex wrenches. Finally, after lots of weird looks and smart ass remarks, a kindly motorist got the correct tool from his trunk and I was on my way.

I busted a seat post clamp bolt once out on the road. BUT I WAS CARRYING A SPARE BOLT, SO I WAS ON MY WAY IN 3 MINUTES!!!!!

A way more common incident than most people think. I've personally broken two seat binder bolts and an entire seat clamp while on the road. I've come to the conclusion that adjusting seat height on the road is a bad idea.

Incidentally (feeling inferior), I didn't have a spare with me on any of those three occasions.

I stripped a stem once fidding with it way out on the road...that's when I decided to either carry spares, or refrain from making changes more than a mile from home!

On our first long (30 mile) tandem ride, I stripped the stoker seat post clamp at mile 10. My wife only uses about 1" above the suspension seat post, so we were able to finish without too many problems. But boy did I feel stupid.
