I saw so many women on bikes today, and none of them was even close to OCP. They wore regular shorts, some had flip flops, some in tennies, and they all looked good. Every last one. Can't say that about all Freds, you know. Just sayin'

I'm not sure if there really is a female Fred. Could be one of those things that is considered possible but not ever observed.

I sure could use a back-up saddle...a Specialized Alias 155...preferably in white, and the 2007 model only.

Do you actually use a saddle to back up? I assumed that this was done while standing on the pedals. That's what the guy in the circus does.

I think they're called "Betty"'s.

Unless they mountain bike. There is an organization called WOmen's Mountain Biking And Tea Society, or WOMBATS. I think they're located in NoCal.

I think it might be tougher on the Bettys, actually. Take beach wear. Middle aged guys, if they're dumb, have no problem walking around in a banana hammock, no matter how pitiful the whole thing might appear (don't think too hard about my choice of words). Take a middle aged woman in a bikini, who really shouldn't be wearing one, and everyone from the local police to the Environmental Protection Agency gets involved.

The health and safety issue is when you are riding in a park where every single U. of Louisville coed is jogging, dressed in skimpy little shorts and wearing a sports bra. Riding into the back of a parked car at speed is no laughing matter.

I have to agree with Wino and Red Rider. I think it's just terrific to see them out on a bike.........for lots of reasons.

My father's wife is named Freda, I suspect after her father, who was a Fred.

My favorite local bike shop is owned by a genuine Fred.

I just call the one that rides with me "honey". She doesn't wear her riding pants, won't use clipless pedals, has the biggest seat bag she could find on a Litespeed, and I like her just the way she is.
