Hi all,
i would like to know if anyone here has tried a light called a 1203D produced by a company called Solid Lights? I currently run 2 X E6's that i am more than happy with but i am always looking for something that can make my night riding 600's easier. Cheers Scott..:) :) :) :)

Hi Scott
I havent tried them but have been looking at them for a while. They are reputedly very popular with randonneurs in the UK. A couple of reviews you have probably seen are: http://www.blayleys.com/articles/lights/page4.htm and http://www.meiring.org.uk/pdm/Audax/SolidLights_Review.shtml google throws up the following : http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&rls=com.microsoft%3A*&q=solidlights+reviews .
I also have a twin E6 setup and the solidlights seem to have several advantages being LED's: they are 3 watt LED so should be more powerful as opposed to 3 watt halogen lights with a longer lifespan than halogens and operate at full power at lower speeds.
I would be interested in anything else you come up with.

Hi Chris,
It sounds like you are in the same boat as me. After the expense of having a set up of 2 e6's i would want any update to be a fantastic imporovement and not just a 'yeah i suppose they are a bit better'.
I'll try to contact someone i know in the UK who does audax's and will see what they think.
Cheers Scott

Scott
I would be interested to hear the outcome.
For me I have two areas of concern. Firstly where to mount them - I have gone from handle bar mounted Smart halogen lights to E6s mounted towards the top of the forks beside the top of the wheel because of overcrowding on my handlebars - so where to mount a squareish box approximately the size of 2 E6s side by side. Secondly cost - another sizeable investment given the $280ish for current lights.
I have no doubt the improvement in the amount of light would be reasonable and the longevity of globes would also be substantial. The solidlights also would seem to be far less fragile than the E6s.

Chris,
I found the best way for me was to mount a Minoura swing grip from the head stem and from there mount the e6's on either side of the bar which is on the front of the swing grip.
Check out a swing grip, Minoura also sell the same style of grip but it is fixed and can not be moved around. Check one out it could help heaps?
Also i have sent out a few emails asking about the benefits in lighting output compaired to running 2 e6's so as soon as i know something i'll let ya know,
Cheers, Scott
