the website says its a fox vanilla coil. i don't think that should bottom out on you, unless your settings are screwed up

I think the bike shop can order you one. I have a 650lb spring from my trek bruiser 3 after it broke in half. If it fits your shock it may work well. IF the one you have is also 650 that is bottoming out (like mine did) there is a special 1000lb (something like that, maybe it was 1500) spring rate that was designed around the rst 22a one. I know a site that sells it but I can't remember the name.

(Yeah a 1500lb spring)
I wish you could measure the size of yours.

It sounds like he needs a new spring. When a X Fusion Glyde blows up you get oil all over the BB area of the bike and you have no rebound, just a spring. Ask me how I know......:D

The spring is too large, oh well.

XFusion's site: Q. I cannot achieve the correct sag on my coil shock. What should I do?
A. If you cannot get enough sag on your coil shock, your spring is too stiff. Contact X-Fusion to order a new spring. If you have too much sag on your coil shock and have applied the maximum two turns of preload, your spring is too soft. Contact X-Fusion to order a new spring. Remember – TWO TURNS MAXIMUM PRELOAD ON COIL SPRINGS. TOO MUCH PRELOAD WILL CAUSE THE SPRING TO COIL BIND AND POSSIBLY BREAK.

Both of those are two different lengths, and I dont think theyre the same length as the one you have now. An airshock is going to be stiffer and not so bouncy per se.

well i dont know about the shocks i was considering them because i am having a hard time finding a new spring for my shock and after looking at my shock more closely it is a pretty limited shock. but what do you think new spring or new shock.. if new shock air or spring shock just looking for someone with a little know-how.

Are you looking for a technical scientific explanation here? I would imagine that you would have the knowledge. Perhaps search on Google.com. I'm sure there lots of explantions exist.

I don't need to "google" to know that is totally wrong.

An air shock is super adjustable. You can add air for a super stiff ride or you can run it under spung to the point of sagging through the whole shock stroke. It kills the shocks performance but you can do it. As far as not as bouncy,if you speed the rebound up they'll buck you right over the bars. I like the feel of a coil shock but thats just me.

You may have misinterpreted my statement. It was not a clear definitive statement proclaiming that in any occasion an air shock is going to always be stiffer, hence the per se -intrinsically. Yeah, it does depend on the situation like riding style. Someone told me it is becoming more common for downhillers to use air shocks, which I find pretty neat. It seems peculiar to want a nonstiff air shock. Maybe Ill install a coil shock and screw the spring really tight to make it as stiff as the air shock is now on my fuel.:o

I saw a few guys running air shocks on DH rigs last year. A coil on a Fuel.....that may add a gram or two.
