Foo - Prayers for my hometown

A crazy guy took a high-powered rifle and killed a civilian and a police officer in my hometown and wounded a civilian and a sheriff's deputy. I know both of the dead and one of the wounded. I'm in the process of moving, but that has been suspended as we are staying in our homes. I won't be going on a ride today, probably. Anyway, please think of the people out here in my favorite little town. It's like my heart's been hurt. :(

Self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Indeed. He was sitting in a tree spraying gunfire into the courthouse at midnight last night, two blocks from my favorite bar, where incidentally, I was. The police chased him into a church, where he killed the caretaker (whom I knew) and then killed himself.
Sounds a bit like what happened around where my parents live. A career criminal with a history of domestic violence basically lures two deputies onto his property after they are called out about a domestic disturbance. He killed both deputies and was wounded. The really sad part is that they saved his life and air lifted him to the hospital instead of leaving him laying there to bleed to death.
Sorry to hear the news Flippin. I will be praying.

I'm sorry to hear about that. :( I used to live in Lancaster County (PA), and the news of the school shootings last year was pretty tough. I can't imagine something like that hitting as close to home as your experience did.

Unbelievable. Flippin' Sweet, glad you're ok. Were you at John's Alley?
I lived in Moscow for more than 15 years, First Pres was the church I went to when I was a kid, it wasn't far from the house I grew up in.

I was at John's Alley early in the evening and afterwards I was at Mingles for a bit. We heard the shots, but thought they were fireworks. Then we heard the sirens. But no one knew what was going on until we woke up this morning.
It's hard to wrap my mind around it. I know that people and police are killed every day, but not in this town. It is literally small-town America, where people know their neighbors and people don't lock their doors. We also had a university student shot this year. My reality is shaken up right now. :(

Okay, so I sound gay for saying it, but hugs to you flippin.
I just hope you're okay. I can only imagine how shaken up I'd be.

Not gay. :)I'll take that hug. Thanks for letting me just flip out and worry out loud. It's just a good reminder to live each day to the fullest, because crazy things happen every day.

Believe me after what happened to us in our small little town last month I know exactly where you are coming from. The worst part of it now that it is over is how the media will come in and try to sell there story by poking and prodding into everyone's lives. Avoid them at all cost. Sorry to hear about it. It makes one wonder where all the crazies are.
