Bicycle Mechanics - sharp grinding noise in LSD pedals

I just built up a fixed gear bike with left side drive. I glued the pedals in so they wouldn't unravel and I'm getting this sharp grinding noise whenever I start riding from a stop and when I slow to a stop by resisting. It only happens at slow speed when I'm putting a lot of pressure on them. I'm pretty sure the noise is coming from the pedals. It happens every rotation on both sides. I'm not sure if this has to do with the left side drive though. Has anyone had something similar and know how to stop it?

It's the pedals that are noisy? not the bottom bracket or a tight chain?

i would swap out the pedals to try isolating the noise...

ummmmmm, dude- don't glue components on your bike. your pedals should not come off anyway, but there is stuff like loctite if you really need it.

If he really built it as a left-side drive, both pedals will tend to unthread with use.

If it really is a pedal, it could be bad bearings inside the pedal. (There are two little bearing sets inside each one.)

If the noise is really coming from both sides it sound more like itse the central axis that's the problem. The possibility of both pedals having the same fault is small. And, by the way, pedals stay on just fine... without glue. I'd open up the crank axis (don't know the real name) and check that the bearings arent grinding. I had that problem, one of the balls in the bearing was chipped -> noise. Replaced the ball and all was fine again.

I was thinking about doing a LSD bike myself, but I really like my clipless pedals so I haven't commited to it yet. But I agree, sounds more like a BB issue if you're hearing and feeling it in both pedals.

Good idea :) , but I already have 3 sets of SPD-SLs I move around between bikes. Hate to add another format. :( May just have to use toe clips again; it'll be a fixie.
