Introductions - Greetings - my 1st purchase, thanks to you!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hola, my name is Kyle and I'm a virgin rider from Seattle.

A buddy sent me this way about a 2 weeks ago and I've been scouring through the threads here non-stop, learning all sorts of invaluable info that helped in my decision to convert to the bike world. (Specifically the Advice for new commuters (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=90213) thread.)

I pretty much tripled my allotted budget, but I wanted to get it right the first time.

This is my new mode of transportation:

At the first 5 bike shops, I test rode a few bikes and couldn't really tell what I should be feeling for. It all felt foreign so it was all about someone just selling me on it. However when I rode this today, it was a world of difference. Needless to say, I feel quite confident in my purchase.

Now I can't wait for the Seattle rain to go away so I can start beefin' up my legs and lungs so I can do the 'long haul'.

Thanks again and wo0p@!

- considering where you live, you may be waiting a long, long, long time, my friend...

:-)

p.s. nice ride!

Haha touche`. We had a really nice stretch of 70+ degree weather for about a week and a half. Today it was taking a dump on us though (figures since it was the day I got my bike and couldn't ride much!)

Hopefully global warming will kick in and provide for some dry season. ;D

Hi iamintricate, what part of Seattle? North or South? I've just changed my start and end hours, and am shocked to see far more commuters than I realised were out there. I'm mostly on the Interurban/GRT in the mornings. Don't forget to check into the Pacific Northwest regional forum :).

Welcome to BF!
