When installing the cables do you have to put the metal ferrules on the end of the shifter cables before sliding them into the Ergo Shifters?
Campy cables come with one end of them crimped with a stopper. If you put a ferrule on the other end though, you're not going to get it through the brifter or through the cable housing, or through the derailleur. Crimp the ferrule on as the last step.
IIRC a ferrule should be on the end that goes into your brifters. It's always easy to check, however. If the cable fits with the ferrule, use one. If the ferrule doesn't slide in the recess/hole, don't use it. And I see no reason to crimp a ferrule on in any case.
And the derailleur cable/ferrule is 4mm and has a smaller cable hole; the brake uses a larger 5mm
