I bought an old Volkscycle a few weeks ago. I am in the process of taking everything off to have it repainted. I can pretty much get everything off but the chain. The last chain I took off of a bike, I could see the marking where the lock plate kept the two ends attached. But this chain I can't see it.
What is the best way to take the chain off? Is this chain held on with a pin? And if so will there be a marking to let me no which pin it is?
Thanks in Advance.

If it doesn't have a master link you will need a chain tool to push a couple pins out far enough to remove one of the plates.

Ditto - pushing a pin out with a chain tool is no big deal, and it's not an expensive tool. If you take it slow and easy and just push it out enough so you can twist the links apart, you'll be able to push it (the pin) back in when you want to reconnect. There are some guides on how to do this, good luck.
