So I managed to destroy the crappy deore cranks i had on my steelhead a month or so ago and I've been itching to get it going again. I'll never run the bike w/ more than a rear derailur, and I actually want to convert it to SS right now since I keep breaking derailurs.

I was wondering what kind of cranksets and gear ratios most people were running for urban ss/ dirt jump use? I'm looking for something that is durable, and hopefully not too expensive. Any ideas? Thanks.

Not the most graceful of riders I guess.

I ran 35-15 when I had the bike set for SS.

For a crankset FSA V-drives.

if you go with truvativ stylos, replace the alloy bolt w/a steel one, or you'll rip the crank arm off the BB spindle and screw up the splines like I did. Yes I know they're a XC crank, but they're coming speced on a lot of big-duty bikes.

I run 36/16 on my single speed.

For a nice cheap crankset I would say Truvativ Hussefelts. Fairly heavy but very strong.

I'm running 33/16 on my Trail-or-Park with some Deity cranks. I do mostly park riding, but have been doing some dirt jumping lately and it's worked out great.
