My wife and I decided to get a place to stay in the Redding area for Friday and Saturday nights so we could rest both before and after Saturday's century. The Anderson River Park Century is in only it's third year and we decided to drive up there because my wife is originally from a small town called French Gulch which is near Redding. We found a cool cabin to stay at which is very near the entrance to Lassen National Park.

We arrived around nine o'clock Friday night and enjoyed some adult beverages before "retiring" for the night. ;)
Saturday morning came early at 5am and we headed down to Anderson River Park on the Sacramento river so we could check in and start our century ride.

After a delay, we got underway around 7:45am...forty five minutes later than we had planned...but the weather was absolutely gorgeous.

We rode with a pretty fast group for the first 20 miles through a couple of small towns like Cottonwood and ended up at the first rest stop before the climbing began!

The next 40 miles was climbing up, up, and up...

I made it to the top of this one first and watched my wife making her way up...
