Trust me on this, I'm pretty much an expert on this one subject, as it sums up the schizophrenic geneaology of my mother's side of the family.

Many, many Floridian women get this wrong also and claim to be "Spanish" just because their anscestors were forced to speak the language.

I, on the other hand consider myself "latino" even though I speak very little Spanish.

It's all very confusing, really.

It's not the end of Western Civilization as we know it...just an early indicator of a cultural paradigm shift.

Would everyone prefer if we went back to emulating Southwestern cowboy gangsters which was all the rage in the 40's, 50's, 60's and early 70's? How about the pre-WWII national obsession with the Mob culture?

"Gang" culture is as heavily now romanticised and plagerized by corporate structures just as Jesse James Gang culture was then. It's just become "darker" now, pun intended.

America is a funny, violent, and possibly tragic place. But don't bet on the tragic part too heavily until you see middle-aged soccer moms in braids and low-hanging pants and chains. Even then, they will be pining for their youth, not yearning to become "gangstas" in Compton, California.

What are you getting at? In your previous posts you wanted to know why Spanish girls do not consider themselves "white". Girls from Spain could be possibly white but I am refering to the "white" in the Spanish girls. None of them will ever admit to being white because they are not. My wife who is whiter than I, would never consider herself a whitey. Or should I say ****** for the sake of your explanation. Spanish girls would never stoop that low to be called a whitey. Matter of pride in the Hispanic culture. To them white girls, especially the Barbie types, are what blacks are to javna golina. Not a race thing at all, just the way it is.

They're trying to get across the idea that when you say Spanish (people) it actually means from Spain, and people from Spain, like almost everyone else native to Europe, are Caucasian, aka gringos. So pendejito, Spanish as in the people are Caucasian, unlike the Hispanic/Latino/Chicano (my friend hates this one) people you seem to be referring to. :)
