I've been riding a lot this season, actually by the end of the
season I'll have ridden more than the last two seasons
combined.
I got my road bike back from the repair shop the other day
and once I got it home and got into my biking clothes, I felt
exceedingly good on the bike.
I decided to take a little ride as a shakedown cruise. At 10
miles I didn't see any need to stop so I kept going. And at
15 miles I still felt great.
Around the 18 mile mark I noticed my front tire started getting
a bit low in pressure, or at least it was lower than I noticed
before. I was near a bike shop with free air so I dropped by,
filled the tire up and kept on going.
By the time I hit 20 miles I knew that I had to head home and
do some things that I'd been putting off. I felt great though -
I literally felt like I could have done another 20 miles and
would have felt like I was in better riding shape than I'd been
in a long time.
Anyone ever get to this point where you feel one with the
bike and that you don't want to stop?

I totally understand where you are coming from. Just this last weekend, I did 70 miles and felt like I could have kept going. Unfortunately, errands were waiting, the dog needed to be walked, etc.
Sometime I really must do a week-long bike tour so that I can go as far and as fast as I want. All that waits at the end of the day is setting up the tent and stretching out. Ah!

Yeah, all the time. I really don't like coming back into the real world after a ride. In fact, I hate it. Heck, but for this forum, I probably wouldn't.

After TRYING to keep up with the peloton for 40 miles on my thursday night club ride, I'm ready for dinner, a glass of wine, and bed. I guess that I'm just getting older.

:)I have many days like this but...:irritated just when you want a day like this you get the evil blahhhhs and the ride around the block feels like a century.
It sure is nice when they happen and I don't think you can plan them.

Oh, yeah! An endorphin-high produces that kind of exhiliration, however, I think the effect is enhanced by the constant environmental stimulation of biking. When it happens, you feel alive don't you?

Just got in before a storm hit. High winds and heavy rain.
the wind would have made for a nice 60mph tail wind ..
cold beer:

I did a 30 miler today and after drinking tons of water as well as eating and a short nap I actually feel like I could do another 30. Or even more.
But I'll leave it for another day. The one thing I find is that while I could easily spend an entire day on the bike, the big problem is that I have other things to do.
Some of the guys who say they do 4-6000 miles a year, I just don't
know how they do it.

Yeah, I had this feeling Sunday. Had a great ride on a nice smooth rails-to-trails. An unusually cool afternoon for this part of the world. Had to stop after 25 miles though because two good looking women (my wife and daughter), cold beer, and lunch beckoned. :D

Maybe I'm getting carried away. Yesterday I did another 32 miles for a sort of mental health day kind of experience. I'm back at
work today but am not thinking much about work I'll say that.
After the ride, I felt great, drank a bunch of water, took a shower,
ate some food and took a nap. Just about perfect.
Thursday night my wife and I and a friend are heading up north
to my in-laws cabin and will be bringing our mountain bike and
will be riding the many trails up there. That ought to be fun in
a different way.
The nice thing about the roadie is the extreme distance you can
pile on in a relatively short amount of time.
