Bicycle Mechanics - changing rear shift cable to top vs bottom.

Good morning from the Chilly Northeast.

Im a clyde and have an AUTO SHIFTING problem every time I climb a serious hill , most likley due to bottom bracket flex.

I do not have this problem on my MTB , My MTB cables are all top routed.

My commuter is a surly Cross check and Im using bar cons.

My question is

[B]Are there any cable stops that clamp to the chain stays I know I can get cable stops for down tube but dont know what to do along chain stay my stop is underneath the chain stay.

Or any trick thats been done.

Many thanks

You never say what bike gives you the auto-shifting problem, but I'm assuming it's the Cross Check.
I'm also assuming the auto-shifting is on the rear cassette, not the front chainrings. But please confirm.
Are you confident in your rear-derailer adjustment? I'd be surprised if the Surly BB would flex enough to significantly change cable length. The required sideways motion to pull enough cable to shift to another cog would be enormous. Is the auto-shifting always in one direction? If so, perhaps the rear derailer cage is adjusted too far in that direction already?

As to your question, I'm guessing that there are cable stops that you can clamp on the frame to route cables how you want them. But before doing something like this, you should make sure that more obvious answers to the problem are crossed off the list of possibilities.

Thanks for the reply,

The auto shifting is on the cross check and rear cog only , front is fine. It always shifts to the next cog or two up then when I stop climbing it shifts back to where I had it in the first place. Ill play with the rear cage adjustment.
I use friction shift only (I prefer it) and under normal riding shifting is fine.

climbing is when the problem appears.

Im no tinker bell im 247lb and can put some serious preasure on a bb when out of the saddle.

many thanks
