Introductions - Hi from Perth Western Australia

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi All,
I live in the northern suburbs of Perth Western Australia, about 5 minutes from the beach by bike.
Perth has cycleways that run along the Swan River, the ocean and the freeway.
Also it takes about 40 to 45 minutes to get to the hills where there are plenty of bush trails. We also have the Munda Biddi Trail that will, when completed, run around 900 km through the bush from Perth to Albany in the South.
As you can see there is plenty of options for cyclists.
At 105kg and 190cm I will probably spend a bit of time in the Clydesdale section.
thats about it,

Hello thepeddler, I have seen a lot of good things about the cycling opportunities in Perth, one day I shall have to get myself over there to check it all out.
What type of riding do you do then, road and mountain? What kind of bikes?
Welcome to BF!

Hi East Hill,
At the moment I am riding a cheap Malvern Star Mountain bike which I put a semi-slick sort of tire to ride the road/cycleways. I have relatives in the Mt Helena which is a hills ( no mountains in Western Australia) suburb of Perth. I drive up there, park the car at their place and ride the trails in the area. This is great except for the drop-bears (lol).
The cycling bug has got hold of me now so I am looking at upgrading my bike. I want to start commuting to work, which is a 40 km round trip as well as riding on the hill trails. Since I am to poor to buy two bikes I need to get one that will do both. I am looking at a Scott P3 Sporster with 700c tires and lockout forks. Any other recommendations?
Are you from Kent in England? How are the rides in your area?
regards,

I have heard some good stories about dropbears :D .
Check out the XC forum for more recommendations, oh and don't forget the Commuting forum as well.
I'm not in Kent, UK, but Kent, in the state of Washington, USA. I was born in Lancashire, though :D .
