I just realized I ordered too short spokes - apparently I entered wrong numbers in the spoke calculator :( . Calc (w/correct data) says I need 288.6mm but I ordered 286mm. Is this too big a difference?

I definitely wouldn't do it with aluminum nipples. Brass you might be OK.

you'll probably be ok. you may have 1mm or 2 of threads sticking out, but thats better than having spokes too long.

You'll be OK. And aluminum would work as well as brass.
