Road Cycling - Now that I have some miles on my Bianchi

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Well I have put a couple hundred miles on my new Bianchi Veloce Double. I have just one word to describe it, SMOOTH!!
I have never ridden an aluminum bike that has felt this smooth. It was like riding a steel bike! I am truly amazed.
And the Veloce groupo feels and shifts as smooth as Ultegra.

Nope the only carbon on the bike is the fork, seat post, saddle and headset spacers.

Toni and Tridevil thanks.

Sweet.

I agree that Bianchi has it figured out when it comes to comfortable Aluminum.

Campy on a Bianchi - heaven

Here's a shot of the Bianchi I race...

Very nice bikes, fellas.

BikeInMN- do you have any pics of the Cervelo in the background? Which model is it? Have you seen the new "Super Prodigy"?

Here's a pic of the Prodigy. I actually just snapped both pictures today so neither is very clean.

Built with full Dura Ace and a Power Tap, it's pretty much the perfect training bike.

It's used for just about everything except racing unless I want to record wattage output for a particular race.

I haven't seen the new Super Prodigy but from what I hear they're pretty nice. It should have the exact same ride characteristics as the old Prodigy (same geometry) but should come in a bit lighter (not that the old ones were heavy for steel). Starting in 02 all steel Cervelo's were nickel plated to add to the durability which is cool, not that I've had any problems with my 01.

Nice bikes you guys got there. I guess building bikes for 118 years has taught Bianchi a thing or two.

I love my Bianchi, with Campy. I sort of tend to stick with the same thing forever, if I like it. Unless something major happens, I will always be a Bianchi/Campy rider. I am still new, I have not really ridden anything else, so I don't really know what a low quality ride is. I started off with my Bianchi/ Campy/ Reynolds Ouzo Pro / Mavic / Michelin set up. It is a great ride.

Ok, after seeing this thread of beautiful Bianchi bikes, I'm going to have to go home and take a picture of mine to post. That is a sweet new Veloce...I hadn't seen one in that color scheme yet. But hey, every Bianchi I see is beautiful, right?

On a side note, I have an older ('97ish I think) lugged Veloce frame at home that is solid dark blue with white lettering and is steel. I rode that one for a couple of years and except for the steel forks it had a great ride. I was surprised to see it come out in Al this past year but I'm glad to hear it still rides nice and smooth. Hope you get a lot of enjoyment out of it.

You guys are making me feel bad...I've had my bike for almost a month an still haven't gotten a chance to ride. :( I've either been out of town or the weather has been really crappy. I'm hoping to get out this weekend finally, the weather might cooperate on Sunday.

Hey 2k2s4,
You have just GOT to get that baby out!!!
She is pretty darn sweet!!! Trust me ;)

I put some Michelin Pro-Race, yellow and black tires on mine. Looks WAAAYYY better than the greens.

I also just happen to know, she won't mind a little rain at all. She does show dirt very well, but that just gives you an excuse to take her outside and give her a good washin.

I'm a wimp when it comes to riding in the rain. The weather in Northern VA has been such crap lately, I just don't feel like being outside. Very soon though, next week looks very promising. Incredibly hot, but promising.

I look forward to hearing what you have to say about the bike after you get a chance to ride it.

LOL, I just noticed that. I'm looking forward to just riding it, I'm sure I'll have good things to say.

I bet that would look sweet, unfortunately I just spent $1000 on track wheels for my car and I still need to buy street tires to the tune of $600. The green tires, while not pretty, will have to do. I must do something about that saddle though...eeew.

If I have some free time this weekend, I might just get out and get her a little dirty. :)

Ahhh I guess I need to go and take a pic of my 2003 Bianchi Veloce (Aluminum) too. It needs a bath though-lots of rain here in philly...while its still got a touch of mud on it there's no excuse not to take it out in the wet. Anyway by a quirk of fate I also have a 2002 Bianchi Veloce (steel). While I love my aluminum and it is smooth it feels quite different from the steel...two very different bikes in my opin.. both awful nice.

I rode a road bike a long time before I ever rode a MTB.
