27" Tire Recommendation Please

I'm new to the tandem scene. I recently picked up a tandem with 27" wheels. I need to replace the tires. Are there any 27" road tires that come in a size larger then 1-1/4? I've found some all terrain and cross tires in a 1-3/8 size, but no road tires.

Lacking a larger tire, are there any recommendations for a 1-1/4 tire? For that matter, are there any tubes that are better suited for a tandem? Combined weight will be about 350lbs.

Performance/Bike Nashbar sells 27" tires. Most are 1 1/4". Way back when, we rode 27 x 1 1/8" tires on our road tandem.

Google 27' bicycle tires or biketiresdirect.com (they've got a sale going: $7.95 to $18.95!)) and even e-bay for 27 inchers.
Brands include Schwalbe, Panaracer, IRC, Kenda., etc.

This is still a decent selection of 27" tires available. Most are 27 by 1 1/8 and 1 and 1/4. There are some 1 3/8s.. but I am not sure of tread choices in that size. LBS should be able to help you out. There is a lot of choices in the QBP cat. [ a common supplier]

I know of nothing specific for tubes for a tandem... or a need for any.
