I just ordered a set of Mavic Aksiums and would like to use my existing tubes with them. The Aksium does not have an extreme aero profile, but it's deeper than my current OEM rims. Do I need to use a tube with a longer stem for this type of wheel, or will a "standard" Presta tube work OK?

You can use a 34mm(standard) valve but it is easier if you use the 48mm valve. If you have trouble getting the pump head to stay on use a presta/schrader adaptor as an extender, if your pump will work with schrader.

Yeah, confirming this. I've got some Aksiums, which came stock with 34mm; I like the 48mm much more, but both work.

With 34 mm about half of it sticks out from the rim when inflated. More than enough if you ask me.
