i did some crits last year so during the fall and winter i shed many pounds and decided i wanted to be better faster etc. i used my trainer seriously all winter . i rode as much as the weather allowed. i came into this spring 10 times the guy i was the year before. then all late winter and spring it snowed and iced it was bad. then the spring has been way bad with more rain than normal and most all of our crit training races have rained out over the last 2 months. i planned on doing races this year some road and crit and i have done a few but i keep having to shove those goals further down the road, because of the weather.i can train for a week or more then it will rain every day for a week or more , then a race would come up.so being ready race time and keeping any regular form has been hard.
so should i not worry about racing much this year until the end of the season and do a few then. mainly just stick to training races and developing myself so i can build on that base for next year. most of the races i have done i know its all a learing exp, and the ones i havent done i go watch and study whats going on with the course and think about what i need to do to be ready for that race next year.

Do as many as you can. It's all learning experience. Oh and invest in a rain bike. ;)

invest in a rain bike. ;)

Or some rollers or a trainer.

Go train and race till you think the wheels are coming off then rest. Repeat. Next year set some goal races and train accordingly.
