The favorable effects that you claim are the reaction of people who feel that, when on a bicycle, they are inferior to, and endangered by, same-direction motor traffic. And you encourage them in this delusion.
didn't someone tell AJ not to eat the purple acid?!?!

I can see absolutely nothing at all wrong with saying that since children and basic cyclists are everywhere the roads should be able to accommodate them. Anything else would be elitist and discriminatory. I don't need a wheelchair ramp to cross the street, but because a tiny percentage do, how does it hurt me to have them? It doesn't. How does it hurt you to have bike lanes? Oh, yeah, it provides less need for your classes that supposedly create "advanced" cyclists.

vehicular cyclists live in accomodated cities. vehicular cyclists can ride in a bike lane. vehicular cyclists can advocate for greater bike specific infrastructure.

load of blather. john, you really believe your delusions about bike infrastructure. i feel embarassment for the bicycling community by your pathetic stance regarding public roads and redesign of public space to benefit all road users.

your pedantism is firmly grounded in quixotic, outdated arguments sprung of paranoid delusions and fomented by your insistence its' your way or the highway.

sorry, charlie, but vehicular cyclists can advocate for accomodations along public rights of way, including bike lanes, and still be vehicular cyclists with NO 'inferiority complexes' about riding whatsoever.

your insistence in ascribing this complex is indicative of your delusional thought process..

I don't believe there is a conspiracy to get cyclists off roadways, and I don't believe in cyclist inferiority phobia. so therefore I don't oppose bike lanes. and I believe in following the rules of the road while on the road, unless something comes up that makes it not in the cyclist's best interests or safety to do so. that's really it in a nutshell for me and maybe many cyclists, I think. all this talk of conspiracies and phobias is counterproductive to cycling education and/or advocacy.

Bek, face it man you have been brainwashed by the government. I suggest that you read up on all the ways the government has brainwashed you http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rls=com.microsoft%3Aen-US&q=brainwash+government+conspiracy then line your helmet with tinfoil and take the lane on the expressway to counter all government induced delusions and help put an end to segregated facilities no mater who they serve, where the exist and who may think that they are a nice thing to have. In order to achieve true equality we must ride everywhere motor vehicles drive, to do anything less would admit that we are inferior.

Please inform us of the manner in which bike-lane stripes make cycling safe for child cyclists and basic cyclists who do not operate according to the rules of the road for drivers of vehicles.. I know of no such effect.

You claim that bike-lane stripes benefit all road users. Please provide your description of the benefits that are provided, and for whom they are benefits.
