General Cycling Discussion - Feedback on *NEW* (2006 or later) Bontrager "Race X Lite" and/or "Race Lite" Saddle

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I am looking to replace the stock saddle that came on my 2007 Trek 6500 (http://www2.trekbikes.com/bikes/bike.php?bikeid=1033600&f=18).
The stock saddle on the 6500 is the Bontrager Race Basic Lux.
I find this saddle to be a little hard on the "soft bits" (as the catalog likes to describe it).

Does anyone have any feedback on the current versions of either the: Bontrager Race X Lite (http://www.bontrager.com/Mountain/Components/Saddles/6912.php) saddle
Bontrager Race Lite (http://www.bontrager.com/Mountain/Components/Saddles/6918.php) saddleI am interested in any comments on the *new* version of these two saddles that INCLUDE a center channel as pictured below. Bontrager said the channel was added to these saddles in 2006.

Race Lite (http://www.bontrager.com/Mountain/Components/Saddles/6918.php) (215 g)

Also, can anyone confirm that either of these saddles actually exist?

My LBS does NOT have either saddle in stock, and they said they are not aware of any Bontrager saddles with a center channel. I called Bontrager about this, and they said the version with the center channel were introduced in 2006 and that my LBS could order either for me. None the less, if someone can validate that they have seen either of these saddles in their current form (or better yet, post a picture) I'd appreciate it.

Thanks for any advice you can offer :)

PS: I realize there are many other brands of saddles out there.
But it is these two saddles about which I'm trying to get more information.

Just from personal experience, I believe that "Bontrager" is an old Indian word meaning "Good tires, hatchet seats" or something similiar. I simply dont understand why Trek still uses them as their stock seats so often. Love Treks, hate those damn seats!

Isn't Bontrager just the component offshoot of Trek?

Yes. Bontrager + Saddle = Ass Hatchet. I have several of these painful things hanging in my garage.

Yes, the Bontrager (aka Trek) OE seats that come stock on Trek bikes suck ... which is why I'm replacing mine.
However, the two seats I'm requesting feedback on are NOT OE seats.

So can anyone out there help me with my orinal questions?
