I want to get stronger at my bike but because of weather and time constraints this is my program... Stationary bike 2dys/wk Regular bike 3/dys/week I do each for about 30 minutes.. Is this enough?

My thought- probably not... unless you are brand new to cycling and exercise- then it will be good enough.

It's always better to do something than nothing, but if you've been doing cycling regularly, you will need to find a way to extend it out to at least 45 minutes of high intensity training, or 1 hour of moderate to high intensity training.

Can you get a trainer? They seem to be going for dirt cheap since it's summertime right now.

Depending on the strength level that you're trying to attain your current program might be enough, but it will most likely be very slow unless you're truly new to the sport.

I would recommend you increase your ride lengths and most likely their intensity, but again this is dependent on your goals. To ask is this enough with a broad goal such as gaining strength is a hard question to answer. Post some of your goals and experience on the bike and I am certain we can help you further.

At what intensity?

30 minutes at 8 mph won't do it. If you're doing 30 minutes at 15-20 mph with resistance or hills that will help.

IMHO, the problem with short exercise periods (< 1 hour) is that the exercise stops just when your body is getting warmed up and is ready to go.

Try a spinning class! I'm an instructor in Orlando, and that workout is intense. You can burn up to 500 calories in one sitting, 40 minute workout. Plus, here in Florida where it rains every single day in the summer, it's a great alternative to riding outdoors...though I think that anything ourdoors beats anything indoors. :) Give it a try?
