Anyone know this guy?

His route overlaps mine on Royal Ln, (he's going East while I'm going West). I've never seen him out on my commute, but I'm usually watching the road ahead or the cars coming up on my tail.

My commute just got longer. We used to be located in Richardson across from the Nortel complex. As of this last weekend, we now are located at the High 5 jungle. I live in Allen. I'm contemplating riding DART with my bike. Gonna do a test ride this week to see how bike friendly the trains are here. Like the guy in the link, I may ride all the way to work on sparse occasions. There is a meeting on June 5th to discuss the Cottonwood trail extension that will cross 75. That will give me a safe no-car path across the freeway. I've always found the most problems are around the major highways.

Trying to find a good route to work now. Can't figure out where the best North/South route from Allen is.

Last May, after HIT Entertainment was bought out, I started working in Irving again. The funny thing is that the marketing agency I'm at now has HIT as a client, so Barney & Bob the Builder followed me over here.

My commute went from 36 miles RT to 45 and now there are hills all along the route. Of course, these are "Dallas hills" so they're no lung busters or anything, but they can still tucker me out a bit.

You might want to give Greenville Ave a shot on getting to the High 5. I've gone through Richardson that way a few times and didn't have any issues. I also used the DART rail on a regular basis and had no problems taking my bike on board.

I thought you were headed the opposite direction of regular to-work traffic flows? I can't imagine using Greenville Ave on a bike headed in the same direction as the rest of the herd.

On another topic...I'm wondering what the price of gas has to be before it starts to put some common sense into this urban sprawl problem we have here? $5.00 per gallon? $6.00? My bike in my office sure sparks a lot of conversation about gas savings from co-workers and contractors, what with gas at over $3.00 now.

Yea. I hadn't really thought about it in those terms. You would almost have to take either Plano Rd or Jupiter to get into Richardson, but then you could hop over onto Glenville or Bowser. Of course, you still have to get over to and across the highway...

I actually tried a route going by TI two days ago. I decided that area was a deathtrap for bicycles. Still haven't found a decent route that doesn't add 15 extra miles.

When I ride the train, the 3/4 mile I travel via Forest Lane is extremely dangerous. The train sux too. I had a guy grab my bike and act like he was gonna take off with it. Another incident involved a mother telling her kid not be playing with C-A-S-P-E-R (as if I couldn't spell it out for myself).

yeah, I saw that he was hit, but treated and released. If I ever start commuting, I am not going to let the news interview me, for fear I will end up getting hit too! Glad to hear he was not seriously injured.

I know him - have ridden mountain bikes with him several times. He's the trail steward for L.B Houston Park. Helluva nice guy, too. His dad's a bicycle monster.

That makes three in one week. Aside from Mr. Hakes, there was hit and run downtown and another cyclist struck in Grapevine off Hwy 121.
