Hi!

I'm a student at a junior college and live in California. I have loved cycling ever since I was a kid, though I never REALLY did it for fun. It was always a great way of getting to and from wherever I went back then.

I stopped riding for a long while after I got a car. But with all of the headaches that cars can be, I'm seriously considering giving them up, and going everywhere by bike and public transportation.

A couple of weeks ago I got myself a simple and cheap mountain bike, put a nice seat on it, fixed up the gears and brakes, and started riding it to get back in shape. The years of sitting in a car (well just sitting anywhere really) have caught up to me a little.

I started riding to and from school. It made me realize how much of the world I had been missing from the driver's seat. And there's no worry about finding a parking spot!

Anyway, I'm glad to slowly be making my way back into the cycling world!

Hello Dance, are you Northern or Southern California? The Northern California folks are some of my favourite people here (especially if you ever develop a fancy for classic & vintage steel!).

Welcome to BF!

Thanks East Hill! I'm a Bay Area girl. I used to live in San Mateo, on the Peninsula. Right now I'm living near Fresno though, and I'm pretty sure that's close to...Middle California? :)

Oh, no doubt! Fresno is too hot for me, all the Central Valley seems to be like a furnace no matter when I've been down there. I grew up in San Jose, lived in Santa Rosa and Sebastopol--just another reason why I have a soft spot for the Northern California folks.

Yes, it's way too hot...I'll be out of here next year, and I'm thinking about going up to Portland, OR. I love the rain, and I think the weather will suit me nicely.

Thanks again for the welcome :)
