I've got a 2005 Kona Dew Deluxe riding on a pair Velocity Deep Vs I had built at my LBS. After 2500+ miles of urban riding these wheels are still true, and I'm about 190lbs.
I recently got a road bike, so the Dew no longer doubles as my recreational road bike, so I don't need to keep slick 700x28 conti on it. I feel the Dew has a strong enough frame and wheels that with the proper tires would behave a bit like a suspension-less 29er.
I've got no problem changing tires, so I'm willing to get some aggressive tread if it'll help on the dirt. I would like to keep the cost down, and do not anticipate any technical riding, just single track and hard packed trails.
Is this a terrible idea or what?
Thanks.
