General Cycling Discussion - Lots of talk about rain lately, in the south

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

We sure have had a lot of rain the last two weeks. I finally got in 3 riding days in a row this week. With that, I feel my fitness level coming back up. I got caught in the rain for the last two days, but I got in 22 and 20 miles each day. I got in 11 miles Tuesday, but some of it was killer-highway-hill to the bike shop. The cyclists around all know "the hill behind the bike shop". It never stopped raining all day this past Monday.

Anyway, how has the rain affected you? I have been really bummed out about it, but today I started to feel worthy again, as if finally I wan't letting myself down because of the weather. I really, really, like the feeling that I have after a good hard lengthy ride.

as much as i love to mountain bike in mud, it's getting tiring. I've stopped going alltogether for a week and am in withdrawels. I've done s0me spin classes and some road rides in the rain.

We've just had unusually cool weather. El Nino?

The normal El Nino weather pattern gives us rain every 3 days. El Nano has an 11 day weather pattern, a drought. Gee, I think that we have had much more than a 3 day average for this whole year. If only the poor farmer could farm with or without water.

I also live in the Atlanta area, Roswell, GA and have had a tough time getting in any riding the last few days because of this rain. Last time I rode was on Tuesday. Will be on the road tomorrow if at all possible!

Well despite the poor weather I have managed 125 miles in the last 3 days.

I plan to do a short recovery spin tomorrow some time after lunch if I can. I'm just now getting my fitnes back into a zone that feels good after my long drug out anti motivation phase. Feels good to be back on the bike.
