Cell phones

I have a cell phone but rarely use it. ) Why do people just automatically start dialing one as they back out of the parking place at Target? It's like, go into reverse--talk--what's the connection?) Between phones and the ubiquitous use of personal stereos, I'm beginning to think people just don't like being out in the world anymore and always have to imagine they're somewhere else. Do they feel intimidated? Me, I try to be where I am at the time, and notice things, and watch people, and think about what is happening to my community.

I have to confess that I've used my cell phone in the store. It's useful when you are grocery shopping and want to check on whether or not there's any bread, or butter, etc. in the house 'cause you think you might be low but it just wasn't on your list. :confused:
