Foo - What's the average age of the people you work with?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I was talking with some people at work and I was told that the average age of the employees in the government agency I work at is about 62.5 years old. OMG!!!
No wonder they call me a kid, even though I just turned 36 last week! Yikes! I guess to them I really am a kid! hahaha!
I know at the dot com I used to work at everyone seemed to be in their mid-20's. I'm sure there's some correlation between age and job.
I have one co-worker that is going to retire in two years when she hits her 50 year anniversary! Apparently she started right after high school.
What's the average age in your workplace? And what industry do you work in?

19 to 40 at the oldest, excluding 2 or 3 of the execs.

Excluding the owners (us) I would think about 20 to 25. I feel like a father to everyone.

Can there really be an average with only 5 people in the office?

I'm 36....I'd guess I'm right about at the average range for the main group I work with now (here in Redmond).
The group I worked with back in Clearwater, maybe slightly older. I'd guess around 42 or so.

Average age our office is 45, I'm 48. Company wide across 20 offices and corporate the average is 42. Its actually been a topic of conversation about the future and getting some young blood. The vast majority are between 30 and 60+ and even a couple over 70. Our business is industrial distribution.

Some people have been working there that long.

There can be an average with 1 person in the office. :)
I'm at the young end of the spectrum, although now that I'm a few years into it I'm no longer instructing med students who are 5-10 years older than me. :)
Crud... We all need new jobs.
I'm 25 and the average age is like, 40-42 around here.

It sometimes strikes me odd that not only do I not know the average age of my coworkers, I work with about 30 people and I have no idea what 25 of them look like. I don't even know the sex of a handful (foreign names). I work from home, it is just me and my laptop here.

Mathematically, yes, it is possible.
I'd say the average age in my office is about 28. It might even be lower than that... lots of people in their early-to-mid twenties. Our manager is around 40. I'm 26, so it seems I'm about the "right" age. Industry is PR.

45-50.
I am 21.
About the same...average around 45-50...I'm 24.
That's not so bad though. Most of them are easy enough to talk to and there's a few people about my age. The big downer is we're an engineering development and test center; Almost no ladies.

Mechanical engineering here. But there are some hot young chicks all over customer service, sales, and marketting.

I wasn't trying to brag, it just strikes me odd how strange my work environment is now versus what it used to be.
If I were to brag, yes I have it made. No alarm clock, I ride whenever I want, I nap (I am old). No boss around. Oh I just can't go on, I am starting to piss even myself off. :D

I do construction type stuff, and there are positively no ladies.

18 to about 65
I'm 20. My youngest co worker at the bowling alley is 18. My boss at the labs is 65. Well, some professors that I work with might be a little older.

When I was working, about 28 for the young engineers, 45-48 for most of middle management, and 55-60 for senior management in the home office. Office of about 200. Those demographics have surely changed, however, as there has been a huge turnover since I left....
Wow, compared to you guys I work with dinosaurs.
Once a coworker came up to me to talk about the first time they invented the wheel... He said it was the greatest thing since fire! ;)

I work at ESA (like NASA but nobody's heard of it). 2000 people at this site. Huge mix of ages. Lots of oldies though - something about the luxurious benefits and guaranteed employment will do that. I've never been in a company with so many people that have stayed for decades. Plus due to the specialized nature of the industry many here are fuddy-duddy R&D genius furniture types.
My immediate work colleagues are all in my age range (30-40).
Gee3, I guess your situation is exacerbated by the nature of your "company", I guess. I can certainly see the "golden cage" effect all around me.

The folks here are mostly 40-60 (I'm practically the kid here, at 27).
