I just ordered a Rocky Mountain Element Race..... I'd love to know what you guys think of it - although nothing to harsh please (the money is already 1/3 spent)! It's my first full suspension bike and I got a pretty good deal cuz it's the end of season.

THANKS!

Rocky makes some fantastic frames. This is a great beginner FS Rig. It is also a great FS rig period. Although the current trend id toward ISIS drive BB and cranks I am puzzled by the lack of it on this bike. Oh well it is not like it cannot be changed.
Glad to see you are getting a Rocky it is a great choice.

Looks like a perfectly good choice to me...Have you had a chance to ride one similarly equipped? If not, don't be too disappointed if it's not what you expect. Get used to it. Make changes here and there. I was bummed with my Wildhare because I hand picked every piece and it just didn't handle the way I wanted. Everything is pretty well sorted out now and I love my bike!

Ah...The excitement of a new toy.

Any idea of it's weight?

I've never actually ridden a Rocky before, but I've heard only good things about them. I looked at it on the site you put up and it sure does look like a sweet ride. Congratulations.

Yes, Rocky Mountain bikes have a good name/quality vs. price. Also you can claim 7%(that's $70 dollars rebate on a $1000 bike) GST back when it crosses the border from Canada to the US on top of the exchange. Ka ching!! So ask your rep. if you get that little rebate if you are buying in Canada.

You can check it out at http://www.mtbreview.com/reviews/ It seems that those who bought the bike are very satisfied. Hope that you will be too.

Thanks guys!

WildHare - the frame is 5lbs with the rear shock - can't find the total weight (short of me climbing on the scale with it).

MBC,

How are you enjoying the bike so far? 5 pounds for a frame is excellent for a F.S. bike.

How is IRB enjoying his bike?

Well, long story short, I love it when it works right - the middle chain ring was bent and of course Race Face was backordered, so we swapped out my old crank (from my 95 RockHopper) so it would work. And it did work - GREAT.

Yesterday they put the old crank back on with the new chain ring - I have yet to try it. I'll let ya know!

IRB loves his too - although I'm afraid he's going to outgrow it rather quickly. Maybe we should have gotten him the Element too!

I can't wait till I get a bike like that. But first I gotta get the bike I have fixed. I should get my bike fixed soon, my parents have me putting up a fence that they are going to pay me for. So in a few weeks I should be set. Also, I should have tons of wood left over to build a new stunt or jump.
