Fifty Plus (50+) - Nice find on the ride today

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I searched but couldn't find the post about what kind of things everyone has found while out riding. Well, today was MY lucky day.
There I was, crusing along in my http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/sr=1-7/qid=1179970254/ref=sr_1_7/602-5405612-9301462?ie=UTF8&asin=B000LSGJO2, nicely complemented by the white skullcap under my helmet, as well as the gleaming white paint on the Roobay, when I spotted a navy blue wind breaker on the road ahead. (By the way, that's a picture of ME in the Target ad. Just sayin.)
Perfect condition, and it fits me. Goes rather nicely with the tech tee. I haven't tried yet, but it may fold up into one of the pockets.

Last week I found a 5/16 ratching socket wrench in excellent condition. I gave it to my bike's builder after he gave me a CD showing the best eye candy he's made over the last 33 years.

This sounds like a fashion show review instead of a ride review:D :D

Of all the luck - I found a dirty hat and even then it didn't fit.
I did find a card, it was face down and I had to pick it up - Q of Clubs. I kept it. one more and I'll have a pair.
Strange though - I've sure seen alot of dead birds on the road, robins, starlings, cardinals, gackles (sp?).
Most were not squashed/other, seems as if they just dropped.

Traveling at pace through a socially maladjusted area on the fringe of a local town, I saw some used hypodermics on the shoulder once. My most colorful find was scattered over several hundred yards on the side of the road. First a pair of women's short shorts, then a tank top, then upper torso intimate apparel, and then, finally, lower torso intimate apparel. I didn't expect to find much more and I didn't. Riders who go fast with their nose buried in their Garmin miss the more interesting things we freds encounter.

How about put that card on the rear triangle with a clothespin with the edge into the spokes for the retro "brrrrrttttt" sound! :D

I found an old rusted, pounded up car door on my ride yesterday.
It was too big to bring home so I left it. Maybe tomorrow, I'll take pictures of it.

Where did you find the white skullcap, I'm looking for one to wear under my bubble wrap.

I think this is where I got it: Skull cap (http://www.sportsauthority.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1398280&cp=&sr=1&origkw=skull+cap&kw=skull+cap&parentPage=search)
If not there, some other sporting goods store. Now I can't ride without it, in any weather. Helps prevent helmet hair too!

I found a number of drivers with a less than considerate attitude to other road users.
No usable clothing, though
Found a flat smelly possum sleeping on the road yesterday. Was afraid he would bite me so I left him where he was.

What would you had done if it had been a pair of used biking shorts?

What size?
There is something to not being a very capable climber. Last Fri, I was riding with 2 sisters, and it was the 2nd BIG climb of the day, they are both better climbers, I was doing interval training at this point, and there was a very nice Canon digital camera sitting on the guard rail. It was silver colored so blended right in, had to be stopped to spot it. So, waalaa, I have a new camera, and not nearly the incentive to keep improving on my climbing.

Not being able to climb has it rewards:D
I'm not a good climber either:(

Wait, was that MY camera????
No, no... here it is, I'm OK.
Never mind ;)
It only had 2 pictures on it, and we couldn't identify them, so that made it mine!

Just this morning I found a rachet, with a 10" extension and a swivel socket. I don't really need it, but couldn't pass it up.

I found a camera once someone left in a men's room on campus, just before leaving for the obligatory hitchhiking trip around Europe. I left the camera (by accident, of course) in the men's room of a boat crossing some river over there. Never saw even one picture that I took!
Best example of karma in my life. :)

On our ride last Sunday, Ms Bobby C found a cellphone, driver's license, credit cards, cash and blood monitoring equipment. She could have been set for life, but she went to the trouble of finding the owner and returning everything. Stuff belonged to a cyclist who may well join the group. Very noble of her...still that AmEx card could have bought the entire Performance catalog.......just thinking.

Just your luck to be stuck with an incurably honest person.
I stopped to rest my butt and have a drink, and you wouldn't believe the smell, I started to look around and there it was, a dead alligator about 6' long. It had a big hole in the gut about 8" round. It must of got in a fight with another alligator or bob cat. I didn't look for tracks, I couldn't stand the smell.
