General Cycling Discussion - Fixed: Bottom Bracket Clicking - Advice

There's this clicking sound on cadence, but ONLY when I put weight on my cranks/pedals. When it’s on my work stand and when I turn my cranks I hear nothing. Something ****ed up on my bottom bracket? Anyone have this happen?

Check your chainring bolts. One may be loose or threatening to pacman.

I had that problem, it only occurred under high power and I couldn't replicate it off the bike either, I took it to a bike shop and it turned out to be the bearings in the freehub. Strangely it sounded for all the world like it was coming from the front, so I was worried it was a cracked fork or stem initially, and never thought of checking the back - apparently this is caused by the sound reverberating throughout the (alu) frame though.

I'm currently very frustrated with my ride. I paid a huge whack at the LBS to replace a bunch of stuff including BB. And I replaced pedals. Within a month there's clicking. I think it's the pedals. But considering that the LBS put a stock BB in there ("we don't have a choice of BBs, we just have one. We're too Dutch to think someone might want quality"), I wonder if that might be the cause.

Very frustrating. Will be buying cheapy crappo pedals and investing in a pedal wrench this weekend. I figure I go through them so often I might as well have my own wrench.

How many miles on the last set of pedals? I like, and pay extra for, the sealed bearing type pedals which keeps out the water and dirt far better, making them last longer, and keeping a low load friction longer as well. I had a popping sound from my BB on one of my bikes, turned out to be that the BB was loose, probably not correctly tightened at the factory, being the bike was less than a year old. Since I had the bike down that far, I just replaced the BB with the best version I could find online that was the correct size for my bike, since the LBS only stocked a lesser quality version, and they were out of it, plus was going to be on backorder for several weeks.
