Southern California - Anyone riding Back Bay tomorrow evening??

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I am going to ride to Back Bay, I just started working in Irvine. I am going to start somewhere near Costco (Irvine) near the "Spectrum". If want join post here. If anyone is out there say "hey" I am going to riding a single speed Fuji.

BTW Any suggestion on how to get to the bike trail from Costco would be greatly appreciated.

I think the quickest, most direct route is to leave Costco, turn right on Alton, keep going untill you get to Harvard, you'll see the big Civic Center on the RHS as you cross Harvard....as soon as you pass the Civic Center the BB trail will run under the Bridge on Alton before Jamboree, directly behind the Civic Center...so if you turn right onto the Trail you'll be heading towards Riverside, turn left and you'll be headed towards the BB....

I'd join you but I don't usualy start riding untill 9pm....

Just take Alton to the trail. I've never ridden the trail from Alton but it does cross over it.

I'd probably be up for joining you. What time you thinkin'?

The San Diego Creek Trail intersects with Alton very near Costco. I could meet you at the entry point and show you "the ropes". You can ride about 10 miles of path to the back bay and another 3 or so to the end it Newport. It's a great low stress ride.

I'll PM you my phone number if you're interested.

Cheers.

-CJ Cj sounds great I get off work at 5pm I am taking single speed out. My max speed on that bike is very casual ( I peek at 16mph). If you want to ride faster let me know and I will bring my fast bike out ;)

I'm happy to ride slow...I'm always up for a low HR ride. Everyone needs them.

this board is actually pretty good about posting smileys after a sarcastic comment. I'd say that he meant 'Thank you'...

That was a fun ride, thanks for riding with me CJ. I am thinking about riding that trail on Mondays around 5:30pm I will be on my SS so be patient (my legs need to get back into shape). I may start a new thread each week if we can get enough interest. We started at the Alton trail head. There is lots of parking there so if you work in the Irvine area just bring your bike to work. Total mileage was ~25 miles we had a head wind pretty much all the way down, but that meant we had a tail wind all the way back.
