Ok, I'm a new rider with 2 kids (2 y/o and 7 mo./o). I'm looking at getting a trailer to pull them in when the littlest one is bigger. I've read several of the threads regarding trailers and is seems like the Burly d'lite is the way to go. My question is, how much better is it than the cheaper brands. I came across a Ralighe (sp?) trailer that claimed to be comparable to a Burly but I really don't know how to compare them. Also, are the inexpensive ones (ie Instep brand) any good at all? I'm still trying to conivince myself to spend the money on a Burly but haven't succeeded yet. Thanks for any advice you've got.

If you are going to do alot of riding with the trailer, say more than 10 trips to the park/ice cream shop/etc. and more than 200 miles a year with some extended rides (over 15 miles), then I'd spend the extra on the trailer. If you'll only use it occasionally to 10 mile and under locations, get a cheaper one. Whatever you decide to get, look for a used one. You can save alot of money that way.
Burley is not the only way to go.
Chariot and Cycletote are other excellent higher end trailers. I have not looked at the newer Burley's but I think the Chariots have more bells and whistles. I have not seen one that can match the Cycletote for long distance durability.
Easier to find Burley's used because they have had such a good market share for so long at their price point. If you do go used, whatever what you get make sure the fabric is in good condition. Also check that the hitch is in great shape. They can be a pain to replace and eat up your used find savings. I think it is something like $150 or more for new fabric on the Burley's, if you can get it.
Good Luck.
I have the base model INstep, something like $80 new. we have a few hundred miles on it. Not sure how it compares to Burley et all.... it seems pretty well made, hitch works great, no issues.
Cheers
I've been looking for a used trailer myself and was hoping to find a Chariot. But the Burley's are more common so I may settle for a D'Lite model as I have not seen any used Chariots for sale of late.
Good luck!
