Touring - How to cycle from Danube Cycle Path to Weser Cycle Path (Regensburg -> Hann-Muenden)?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
We will cycle from Vienna to Linz, to Passau, to Regensburg, then either to Nuernberg, or further along the Danube Cycle Path.
We will try to cycle to the Weser Cycle Path, which starts at Hann-Muenden.
Then we will go north along Weser.
The open question is how to cycle to Hann-Muenden from the Danube Cycle Path?
Any Germans from Bavaria here?

I saw this map. It is a bit to general. Thanks anyway.
Weser trail goes across Germany from North to South. About 450 km.
More info can be found here http://www.weserbergland.com/
under "Der Weserradweg", what means Weser Cycle Path.
I can't really help you. I am from Switzerland.
But try, to ask the same question in the forum http://www.globike.net
It's the new english part of a german bicycling forum. Behind thes forum are heaps of germans, which will help you.

hey Max,
i'm in Bavaria, but the stuff you're asking about is way up north from me... the Weser trail is way up near Hannover. and i have only been north of Nueremberg/Regensberg a few times... (never with the bike)
according to the auto mapping program www.map24.de it's 420km from Regensburg to Hann-Muenden... from my one visit to the area north of Regensberg/Nueremberg i remember it being pretty rural with very little traffic on the roads, so small roads would probably be rideable even if there are no official bike-ways. do remeber that to the north/northeast are some mountains, but you wuold probably be headed more northwest...
but, i think you should be able to find a decent route - more than likely you could just cycle along the Danube and then find a map store (say in Regensberg - i spent a few hours in their map store 2 summers ago - my girlfriend got annoyed) and find a map of the area and hopefully a bike map-- generally there are specific maps for cycling routes.
sorry i can't be of more help. i could go to the map store here and Munich and try and have a look for you, but i am leaving for a 9-day MTB tour on Friday and won't be able to make it before then. i will try and remember after that, but i don't return until after August 10th.
but again, i would think it should be no problem even if you figure it out on the road. worst case you could also take a train a short ways.
hey nathank,
I took the train from Regensburg to Hamburg. It was the express Wien - Hamburg, with only 2 minutes stop in Regensburg.
But it was enough to put the bikes in the wagon 2, which, as we learned, is always for bikes in the trains of Deutsche Bahn (German Railways). We booked and paid for the bike tickets. It was compulsory.
I had been worrying, but actually loading bikes in the Deutsche Bahn train was simple and convenient. From the bike wagon we could walk to our passenger wagon, while the train was already moving.
So our tour was Vienna - Regensburg (by bike), Regensburg - Hamburg (by train), Hamburg - Copenhagen (by bike).

This provides peace of mind for me, as I was also a bit worried about putting my bike on the train etc.
Cheers
