Road Cycling - Deda Synapsi-Useful or just illegal eye candy?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Would this bar be effective for an aero postion? I realize it is currently not UCI legal but I'm only doing local time trials, not crits.

Here's the link if you haven't seen it.

Data may prove me wrong but it looks effective just as an alternate hand position for breakaway/headwind situations. I doubt there's an advantage in TT use and possible slightly restrictive for deep breathing.

In fact, it looks uncomfortable to use for more than a km or so.

$600?!?!?! You can spend that money in much more useful ways...

That bar isn't illegal unless some rule has changed. The cane creek speed bars are legal in mass-start events so I believe the deda is too. In fact, I think that is why deda built them up that way.

it would be fine for your TT's and all around use.

The UCI banned it.
