Southern California - Ad Hoc Memorial Day Ride

A couple of us are talking about heading off from the Rose Bowl in Pasadena and climbing up Chantry Flats. I do not know the elevation gain (yet), but it's going to be roughly 30 miles round trip, followed by brunch if time permits. The ride should be no more than three hours. Jpconrad knows the route and the group would stay together, except on the climb as it is just up to the top. Please post if you are interested in joining. :D

Date: Monday, May 28th (Memorial Day)
Time: Meet 7:45am, roll at 8:00am
Location: Meeting in Lot K at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena (nearest Lot I)
Distance: approx. 30 miles
Elevation: ?? but there will be some climbing involved for sure as we are headed up to Chantry Flats

Elevation gain is about 2300 feet total, maybe a little more or less.

1300 feet of it is within 3.25 miles.

Would you be interested in my Memorial Day tradition? I go up Big T to A.F. over to A.C. and down to La Canada in time for the Memorial Day Parade down Foothill. It's fun, firetrucks, boy and girl scouts, a marching band etc. The kids are cute.

Bob, my issue is time. I really shouldn't ride AT ALL on Monday. I have to be a grown up at some point and evict the spiders, rats, roaches and chickens from my apartment. They are keeping me up at night with all that damn partying and carousing, and they refuse to pay rent or pick up after themselves. I know you are rolling your eyes at me (cut it out), but enough is enough.

So, I have only a small window to ride in or I would gladly join up Big T. :o

I may just do intervals on the bikepath...

I'm out for this ride. Way too far to drive for that early in the morning for that short of a ride. Have a good one though!

Sounds like a very similar route - what time are you leaving? I don't know his timing yet - we may not be able to leave until later in the day.

It takes most of an hour to get to Oro Vista and Foothill [ Jack in Box] so I tell people coming from other places to meet there at 9am. See ya?

So,. . . what are you doing Fri., Sat. & Sunday? You're certainly capable of doing Big T to Angeles Forest and Angeles Crest.

I'm confused. But if there's a ride on Monday, I'd consider doing the ride.

Fri is car day..need to get my truck in for a recall...will ride home from the dealer in glendale then back to get it...maybe some extra while I m out - 25-35 miles
Sat is up chevy chase/linda vista...round the RB...back up towards Descanso...will stop at the office...work for about an hr...then continue on out to sylmar...then back to burbank - 60 or miles
sunday is SFVBC #1 ride....25-30 miles...
monday???
Actually Markaj is doing some version of a wheelman training ride up Bouquet cyn out to lake elizabeth rd on sunday I think...he wants to turn it into a century...I just dont feel like doing that much mileage...

Sorry Bob, my friend has to be home by noon, so we'll be taking off around 7:30am or so from Lakeview. Hope we cross paths sometime during the day!

That sounds good, but I think VB plans to hit Oro at 9 for other riders to group up, so maybe we should ride the extra .7 miles? I'm thinking about leaving the RB area around 7:45 or so (I'm a couple miles East of it and I'll be riding from home).
