I grew up with her and she passed away at the age of 18.
Why do men look so unattractive when we cry?

Awwww, baybuh, so sorry to hear that. I know how sorrowful it is to watch a loved one die. :( ((VEGA HUGS))
Men are not unattractive when crying. Showing emotion is part of being human, and part of grieving.
<offering shoulder and tissue> :o
I am so sorry to hear about that, Chad.

There is nothing wrong with a man crying.
So sorry to hear about your friend.

Sorry to hear it. Why is it something so aloof causes us some much pain when they go?
I am so sorry for your loss. I recently lost the cat I grew up with, too. It's hard losing a member of the family; there's no shame in crying.
(((hugs)))
Have you heard the story of the Rainbow Bridge?
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.

Oh jeez, I'm sorry to hear that. I have to say that it is quite great that she was able to till 18!
Sorry to hear it, Chad. :( My oldest cats just turned 16, and I dread the arrival of that day. I don't think I'll take it well.

I'm so sorry for your loss! I lost a much-adored dog about a year ago and I still miss him. It's amazing how they become part of your life.

I'm very, very sorry. I bawled for hours when we put DC to sleep. And on and off for a few days after. It'll be the same one of these days when Sable goes. Cry on, you have permission. The animals that own us become such a major part of our lives.
Just think, new slippers for winter. :)
Just kidding.
I'm truly sorry for your loss.
I echo the feelings of those who have gone before me. I'm sorry for your loss

Thanks everyone, i know if you think about all that happens in the world its a trivial event. But to have had her since i was about 6 years old is really freakin' hard to take. What i notice now is just walking through the house knowing that she is gone but still looking for her in the spots she would frequent, windows, couch, place on the rug. I think everyone cried in my house yesterday, it was hard for us all. She was a great cat who didn't have any issues/problems, just lived her life and enjoyed spending time with you when she needed the attention or love.
I also had to take her the Vet's office by myself. And hold her while they administered the drugs. It is really hard when you are driving to the vet's office with the cat carrier knowing it is coming home empty.
The hardest part (its all hard) will be the personality she took with her. I could read her little kitty face like a book, whether she was cranky, happy, stand-offish, quizical. She was contempt with having her kitty bed that she could snuggle up in and curl up in a ball, while waking up from a nap and shooting a leg or arm off the side.
Ahh, the kitty smell. I'll miss that too.
It's not so much as losing a family member - but it's losing a part of my childhood and growing up.
Attached is a pic of her with my niece.
Thanks for the Webathy guys and gals, it helps much.

Chad - I'm so sorry. I cried when Magic cat left. And then there was her pretty cool even twin, Cali, who I snatched up promptly from the shelter. Hang in there...
