Introductions - I feel like a little kid...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Last year I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I thought if I survived chemo I would do a triathlon. My first will be the Philadelphia Insurance Sprint Tri in June. With this goal I have started biking. I can't really say again because I haven't really ridden since I was 16 and was able to use 4 wheels. But I have found I am really enjoying the biking and Jay Gloab and I have been riding more and more and are looking into road bikes and using our old bikes for commuting. Mine is a Hybrid.
At least once a week you can now find me plugging away in some riding group or another peddling hard to keep up with the 15mph group. I haven't been dropped yet but I do feel a bit like a little kid trying to keep up with the big kids:D

Hello mrsgloab, good luck with the triathlon, and I hope you will continue to post, as I would like to follow your progress with the breast cancer/chemo.
Both you and Jay should check out the Commuting forum. You are doing well if you are riding in the 15 mph group and haven't gotten dropped, so it sounds as if you will be just fine :) .
Welcome to BF!

Thank you so much. I guess that I wasn't really clear about everything. I finished up chemo last September and got my clean bill of health this past April:D Last September when I couldn't walk around the block is when I decided that if I survived the chemo and radiation then I would do a tri this summer. It wasn't easy but hopefully I am ok. As I only just turned 30 I have lots more to do and all those Drs really get in the way. I would be happy to answer any questions about my treatment if you have any.

I am so glad to hear that you have a clean bill of health!
Trust me, I have had enough experience with doctors who 'get in the way' personally to know that I really want nothing to do with them for as long as possible :D .
Congratulations, then, and continued good health, too!

I don't know this person. Don't listen to anything she says. :p
Seriously, she's doing great and if you'd seen her eight months ago, you'd understand why I'm incredibly proud of her.
