Does anybody know if slam bars have changed their geometry over the years? I have a really old pair I was going to try out, and just want to compare the feel. The pair I have is at least 9 or 10 years old. So when I'm shopping around online I'll be able to compare specs based on current new slams...

does that make sense?

Still 8" rise, 12* backsweep, and 2* (I think) upsweep.

I believe the only modifications come with the new model (XLT's), which are lighter.

The Race Slams are lighter, as well, but they're been around forever, anyway.

Actually it's 1* upsweep I think

XLT's are the same geometry but just lighter as fit said

The Race Slams and XLT Slams are just newer, lighter versions. Both have smaller crossbars and have gone on a bit of a diet.

I'm pretty sure the geometry has stayed the same though. Although they have changed the stickers! Oh and they still have a lifetime warranty...

I've de-stickered mine now, went off the sticker. Although I kept the S&M badge on the back side

I rode around a bit today on my old slams and it felt a lot better. I was using Odyssey civilian svelt lo bars. 3/4" rise made a big difference, and the slams are a little bit wider too.

Next question: Will most bars feel the same that have an 8" rise, 12 backsweep and about 1 degree of upsweep? A lot of companies have a bar with those specs. Macneil, fit, odyssey, metal, S&M and others. So is there any reason not to get a decent pair based somewhat on weight? And has anyone ridden the Odyssey Lumberjack bars?

I have not ridden the Lumberjack bars. But i hope you realize that they have a higher rise then Slams. The Sunday Triumph's feel just like Slams except they are lighter. The Fit NW bars have more upsweep then Slams to the best of my knowledge.

If you are going to get another company's big bars, go for Sunday, Odyssey, or Fit.

Lumberjack's sticker is mega ugly

yeah, I know the lumberjack's are a bit bigger, I am pretty tall though, so maybe the little extra height might feel even better...

God forbid you could just peel it off.

Don't be such a sissy.
